In my (extremely biased) opinion, life coaching is one of the best investments you can make in yourself.
By undertaking a coaching series it’s highly likely that you’ll experience extraordinary results across many aspects of your life.
But if you’re going to invest your time, money and energy into a coaching series it’s important to know that your approach will make all the difference in terms of the results you achieve.
Based on my personal experience working with coaches as well as observations I’ve made from my own coaching clients, I’ve put together a few quick tips that will ensure you squeeze every bit of goodness out of your coaching series. So start scrolling!
To be frank, coaches want to work with clients who are ‘coachable.’ If you’re closed off to the idea of change, feel you already know everything/tried everything and you’re not keen to take on a ‘beginner’s mind’ then coaching isn’t for you. (Well not right now, anyway!).
It’s so important that you’re open and willing to be coached and that you WANT to experience abundant personal growth and start to feel like you’re making great progress. It’s also vital that you trust your coach’s suggestions and ideas and are willing to take them on board
HINT – that’s why it’s key to take the time to find the perfect coach for you and work with someone you vibe with!
Coaching needs time and space within your life in order for you to get the most out of the experience. You need to make your coaching sessions a priority in your hectic week and allow yourself space to take in and enjoy each session to the max!
So block out at least half an hour before your session to decompress from the day, have something to eat/drink and have any notes in front of you so you can completely focus on your session.
HINT – try and complete your session in a quiet, private space where you can relax and not be interrupted. Co-working spaces, cafes and open plan living rooms aren’t ideal coaching locations if you want to get the most out of your session.
In addition to being coachable, it’s also important to express your feelings. The work I do really focuses in on how you’re feeling throughout the coaching series.
And the big one, (or ultimate goal), is tapping into how you want to feel at the end of your coaching series – this is what we are working towards!
I encourage all my clients to really own their feelings. If you’re feeling frustrated, anxious, annoyed, stressed – own it, and let your coach know. And on the flip side, if things are going along swimmingly, revel in the positive vibes and own those feelings too!
Often coaches will give you actions or ‘home work’ to complete between sessions and guess what? This is where the real transformation occurs!
In order for you to maximise your life coaching investment you need to take action and implement what you’ve learned into your daily life.
This way, once your life coaching series is complete you’ll be fully equipped and feel confident to carry on living your extraordinary life!
As I’ve mentioned, life coaching is such an incredibly powerful process and if you commit to every aspect of it, it will literally change your life.
I’ve found that clients who’ve taken onboard tips 1-4 AND have focused on enjoying the experience got the most out of their Life Coaching series and really made incredible progress.
So make sure you embrace the experience and enjoy the ride!
