I’m seeing a significant trend amongst the awesome female entrepreneurs and small businesses that I’ve been working with.

Put simply – they want to do it all!

What do I mean by this?

Similar to me, these women are ‘multi-passionate.’ They have so many talents, gifts and qualifications that they want to unleash upon the world.

They don’t want to be pigeonholed, labeled or confined in anyway. They want to feel expansive and be able to fully engage in their passions….all whilst helping others.

To me, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this!

But when I graduated from my Beautiful You Life Coaching qualification I had a very narrow view of my career. I thought I was destined to be a Life Coach. Full Stop.

Although I kept telling myself to focus on coaching and to stick to one thing, I could feel something niggling away (ah hello – intuition knocking!). Deep down I knew there was more to my new career path than Life Coaching.

Then out of the blue women in Hong Kong and abroad started reaching out to me and asking for advice on setting up their own online platforms, from blogs to social media and email marketing… and they even paid me to do copywriting for them!

At the time I thought it was a bit strange, seeing as though I’d declared I was now a Life Coach! But eventually I opened myself up to the possibilities – what if I could be more than just a life coach?

What if I could combine my deep love affair for writing and marketing strategy with coaching? What if I combined all of my knowledge and skills I’ve acquired through my Psychology and Marketing degrees, coaching qualification, numerous business courses I’ve completed, corporate marketing background and my own entrepreneurial adventure?

Eventually it made sense to embrace my own ‘multi-passionate nature’ and now I’m running with it!

So watch this space, friends!

multi-passionate is the new black

But back to you!

The purpose of this post is to share how to embrace being multi-passionate and leverage it for your own personal and professional success!

1. Tap Into Your ‘Why?’

When you’re considering embracing a new passion, whether it’s adding a new product or service offering to your business, taking a secondment in a different area at work or starting a new creative hobby, I want you to ask yourself this very important question:

‘Why do I want to do this?’

By uncovering your motivation, it helps you to work out how you can make being ‘multi-passionate’ work in your favour.

In my case I wanted to create a business that allowed me to use all my skills and qualifications, was flexible enough that I could continue to travel AND the big kicker was that I got to work with like-minded, inspiring women, both in Hong Kong and around the globe on projects that really matter.

So what motivates you and how will being multi-passionate work in your favour?

2. What matters most to you?

I learned in my previous product based business that staying true to your core values is vital in business and life. Because our handbag label was in the fashion industry we came up against a lot of bitchiness and superficial feedback, which didn’t align with our core values.

That’s why it’s so important to tap into what you value most and what truly matters to YOU (no one else).

For me, I value my family, freedom, connection and the ability to expand. By embracing a ‘multi-passionate’ business model, I’m not being locked into doing just one thing; I have the freedom to pick and choose the jobs I work on and when; I’m able to work and collaborate with truly awesome people and I can continue to grow and learn as my business evolves.

How will a multi-passionate business and life align with your core values?

3. Stop Thinking, Start Doing

If you’re anything like me you like to critically analyse, think and plan.

But the truth is you get stuck in the detail and you over think things. This leads to procrastination and eventually you talk yourself out of taking the multi-passionate path as it becomes all too hard.

A helpful thought that has finally stuck with me is ‘what you decide on now, doesn’t mean it’s forever.’ For example, if you add something new to your business or accept a new job in a different field, it’s not finite.

You can change your mind and change direction!

Knowing that things aren’t set in stone has helped me to stop ruminating on all the ‘what if’s’ and has enabled me to start taking action!

I’m in the process of re-branding, having an awesome new website built and planning to officially launch copywriting services and online marketing consulting/coaching in addition to my life coaching packages.

I’ll also be running live workshops, which is a tad scary but also very exciting!

I’m definitely seeing and feeling the intention behind the phrase ‘action creates momentum!’

So remove the pressure, stop over thinking and start taking positive action towards embracing your multi-passionate awesomeness!
