Do you get hung up on progress?

Do you feel like you’re never going to achieve your goals or get to where you want to be?

I certainly do!

At the end of each week I have a habit of looking back over my journal and lately I’ve noticed a theme.

Lack of progress = MAJOR FRUSTRATION.

++

Here are a few excerpts from 2 consecutive weeks from one of my journals:

I am frustrated/dissatisfied with:

‘Myself – for not being driven enough/lack strategy.’

I want to change:

‘My mindset – I’m coasting too much.’

Following Week

I am frustrated/dissatisfied with:

‘My general progress. Or lack of!’

I want to change:

‘I want to be more patient with my progress.’

Ha ha! I literally laughed out loud when I read that back.

Friends With Benefits

Thankfully for me I mentioned my perceived lack of progress to two of my very wise and wonderful Moon Circle friends.

One of my friends called me out and recognised that I always feel dissatisfied with the gap between where I am and where I want to be (100% correct).

My other wise and equally wonderful friend pointed out that I am indeed heading in the right direction even if I feel my destination is quite some way away

knowing direction.

This comment really hit home!

Both friends swiftly pointed out that when we met nine months ago I really didn’t have a direction and now I do. They also recounted all the progress I’ve made (which I glossed over) in both my personal and professional life.

So my take away for you is if you’re feeling annoyed, frustrated, (insert negative feeling word here) remember – if you’re heading in the right direction that’s good enough!

You do really need to be patient with yourself and know you are exactly where you need to be at this point in time.

Also, sometimes we overlook our achievements because we are so focused on the end goal. We just tick them off and move on to the next bigger and better thing.

That’s why we need great people in our life to help shine the light on our progress and pull as back to the present.

Thank you Sheryl and Willo xx

I hope my little rant and ridiculous journal musings were helpful in a way.

I’d love for you to share in the comments below – what are you working on right now and what are your frustrations? How can you focus on and acknowledge your progress?
